Miami Swim Week 2025: Road Trips, Runways & Real Talk

Hey fashionistas! Have you ever seen those swimwear runway shows on TV or in movies and thought, “Ugh, I wish I could go to one someday”? Well, guess what?! This year, I finally did it. I packed up the car, hit the road, and got to experience Miami Swim Week 2025 for myself. I’m spilling all the tea about what went down. And while I didn’t catch every single show or see Megan Thee Stallion strutting the runway, my one-day fashion adventure gave me the full experience—and honestly, I want more!

🌴 So, What Is Miami Swim Week?

If you’ve never heard of it, Miami Swim Week is a five-day fashion event held every year in Miami Beach. It’s all about showcasing the latest swimwear and resort wear collections from designers all over the world. Think of it as the swimwear version of New York Fashion Week—runway shows, pop-ups, afterparties, influencers everywhere, and tons of new styles hitting the catwalk before they blow up on Instagram.

🚗 Road Trip + Bad Brunch

I went on May 31, which was day four of the event. We decided to drive because flights were way too expensive. The drive from Tampa wasn’t bad at all, about four hours. Since we couldn't stay the entire weekend, we made it a quick one-day trip.

When we got to Miami Beach, we had time before the show, so we grabbed brunch at a place called Wilde on the Porch, just a block from the venue. Honestly….not impressed. The only thing I really liked was the mimosa. I ordered eggs benedict with potato tots, but the hollandaise sauce had a weird acidic taste, something was off. Let’s just say… I won’t be going back.

☁️ Getting Ready Before the Rain

After brunch, we went back to the car to get ready (yes, we had one of those sun shades—don’t worry, no one saw us lol). Around 1:50 PM, we walked to the venue early because it looked like it might rain and listen, my Dominican curls do NOT play with humidity. No way I was letting the frizz win that day.

👗What I wore to Miami Swim Week:

Black Tube Top Satin Mini Dress

Pink Chiffon Flower Scarf

Pink Flower Clutch

Pink Butterfly Heels

🏛️ The Venue: Temple Emanu-El

The show was held at Temple Emanu-El, a beautiful place of worship turned stunning event venue. VIPs were let in at 2 PM and general admission followed at 2:15. I was lucky enough to score VIP, which meant front row seats perfect for photos and videos without anyone blocking my view. They also gave VIPs a cute little gift bag that included: a straw beach tote, brown sunglasses, crocheted hair pins, a straw hat, and a. branded marketing book. It was a nice gesture, though I did expect a little more inside.

Fashion show attendees wore mostly semi-formal or elevated casual outfits, lots of flowy fabrics, bold colors, and florals. The vibe? Chic, laid-back, and a perfect setting to relax and enjoy the show.

There was an open bar, but unfortunately, it was only available before the show. Once the event started, you couldn’t get drinks or even have someone bring them to you and when the show ended, they shut it down completely.

👙 The Show (I chose to only film the women’s collections.)

💫 Dragonwing

This brand showcased swimwear for girls, teens, and young women. The vibe? Straight-up 80s and 90s nostalgia—think bright pinks, warm purples, and turquoise tones. Playful, fun, and full of personality.

🖤 S by M (My Favorite!)

If you love edgy, futuristic, yet wearable pieces this collection was it. S by M featured metallics, monochrome neutrals, and tailored swimwear that paired with jackets and boots. It gave that "beach club by day, rooftop lounge by night" vibe.

Some menswear pieces were included too that were laid-back and boho, likely linen. I appreciated how the designer styled swimwear beyond the ocean; it felt versatile and expressive.

🧵 Kartandra

Kartandra’s collection was all about crochet swimwear, which has been growing in popularity. Not quite mainstream, but definitely having a moment.

She used warm tones like blush pink, khaki, soft blue, black, and grey. I especially loved how she added matching crochet cover-up skirts which elevated the look and made it feel fashion-forward and complete. Soft, feminine, and so chic.

🎤 Between collections, there was a short break with a live performance by a male singer and wow, his voice was incredible. I don't know his name but if I ever find out, I will let you know!

The final two collections Rhinestone Sugar Couture and Savvi Kids focused more on children’s and menswear, so I didn’t record, but I will say their work was beautiful, too.

Post-Show

Before hitting the road back to Tampa, we stopped at a nearby spot called Salon du Café. It was cozy, welcoming, and the perfect place to sip another mimosa and grab an espresso. Highly recommend it if you’re ever in the area.

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?

So—is Miami Swim Week worth going to? Yes… if you’re someone who loves fashion and wants to cross it off your bucket list.

I’m definitely going again next year but with a different ticket provider and a more planned-out itinerary. I do think the event has room to grow. The complimentary gift bag could’ve been fuller, and the bar situation was a little disappointing. Still, for a first-timer, I had a blast and learned exactly what I’d do differently next time.

Until next time,
xoxo 💋
